Most probably I will get a D800 until the trip (I wish the D600 with better specs than rumoured would be on the market). So the 20mm f/2.8 AF-D would not be a decent choice. Nevertheless the 24-120mm is a good idea. It can be combined with an UWA zoom and the 135mm DC I recently bought (which is a heavy stone). But the thing is that I don't want to exceed the budget limits and I will just get an UWA zoom. Unfortunately, here in Istanbul I could not find the Tokina 17-35mm f/4 to try. It's almost half the price of 16-35mm and also lighter. But I want to try it before the buy. If I could get the Tokina, I would seriously think of the 24-120mm.
I already got the X10. It's optical VF is not so cool but I guess better than G12 or P7100. And also zooming by turning the lens is something we got used to you know... Interestingly, I found the EXR modes quite convenient. The camera's JPEG engine does a very good job compared to the SilkyPix raw converter. And I don't know the video of the Nikon 1s, but I can say that the X10's video is disappointing.
Regarding the back-up body alternatives: Some (and these are the other friends joining the trip) insist on bringing a second DSLR, but I'm not sure about that. I don't want to be too heavy during hiking on the mountains. Yes it will be a better back-up and also it will provaide ability to use other FLs without changing the lenses, BUT it will be quite heavier than the X10.
Yes, definitely I will bring the tripod with me and at least one additional battery alse (maybe two). And flash is something that I rarely use. Maybe could be needed as a fill flash but I don't think I will bring one with me.
