I'm no expert on boken but in this case it doesn't look like a deal breaker to me (YMMV). Any lens would probably struggle in the conditions like the first (proper) shot.

This lens seems sharp and an absolute bargain for the performance. Almost a pity I have no real need for a 35mm lens; I'll be waiting for a 24/1.4 cast from the same mould.
