I just had the chance to make a few test shots with the Canon 24-70mm f/4, and as far as I can see, it does not show signs of focus shifts / RSA.

 

You may have tested a faulty lens, and personally I find it hard to believe the results of this test !
soLong expriences the focus shift mainly at wide angle (24-35mm) I believe. He is using a 7D and Klaus tested on a 5D mk II. May I ask which camera body you are using?
