I understand your frustration. Often I had the effect that after cleanup all was worse than before
Now, wet cleaning is for me the last thing I do. First is a blower, second a static brush, all controlled by a sensor loupe and the ultimate last bit are sensor swabs with fluid, used only once on each side. So far I was successful, but in general amateurs like me clean too much. Less is more.
