I think you are better off finding out which models are more stable. For example, we have a Samsung LED TV which whilst not that great picture quality wise, it very rarely "crashes". My sister-in-law says that her Phillips LED, which has really nice picture quality, is constantly crashing. That is, when she is using some of the Smart TV features the TV just hangs and constantly needs to be re-booted.
As for showing photos on the TV, I don't think there are too many affordable ones ($500-$800) that are going to come any where near what you get on a PC monitor.
