I compared my Oly 12-40 f2.8 at 40mm/f8 to the 40-150 kit lens at 40mm/f8. They were both very sharp but the 40-150 image appeared slightly 'gray' and did not have quite the dynamic range of the 12-40.

It is not discussed but just mentioned.
Technically the MTF50 is more on the sharpness side of things rather than just pure resolution (sharpness = resolution + contrast).
Maybe I will experiment a bit with the MTF20 values (pure contrast) when introducing new systems.
