It's a difference to design lenses or to copy them. And that will remain a difference, even in a few years, if the Chinese ever will be able not to steal other people's work and sell it a very different and for the consumer bad conditions, but also to invent something new.
It would be cool, if Tamron could fill the gaps still exisiting after 4 years Sigma Globalvision. We still have no real good FF-portrait lens from Sigma. I'm just afraid Tamron is a bit late. Everybody with a Sigma 35 or 50 mm Art will only go Tamron if he finds them too big and heavy. From my side, I will only go Tamron if they are really great. A 85/1.8 for nearly 1000$ is not really great, the Nikon version at half the price is very good. Also I'm not willing to send lenses for repair to Germany, that's quite costly.
