Quote:It would be cool, if Tamron could fill the gaps still exisiting after 4 years Sigma Globalvision. We still have no real good FF-portrait lens from Sigma. I'm just afraid Tamron is a bit late. Everybody with a Sigma 35 or 50 mm Art will only go Tamron if he finds them too big and heavy. From my side, I will only go Tamron if they are really great. A 85/1.8 for nearly 1000$ is not really great, the Nikon version at half the price is very good. Also I'm not willing to send lenses for repair to Germany, that's quite costly.*cough* Sigma 85/1.4 *cough*
I wish I had bought one when I could. After that, it's been eluding me like Ebola.
The Tamron 85/1.8 is not $1000 by the way - it's $750 at B&H, and I guess it'll be getting somewhat cheaper. I know it's not a night and day difference but the Nikon 85/1.8 G is $477. The VC and the novelty factor play in favour of the Tamron and when it hits $650 mark I would say it's totally worth it. That's just one good ol' Benjamin away. By the way, the 35/1.8 and the 45/1.8 are now $600 apiece - how much was the MSRP again?
