Quote:What is a contemporary lens (i.e, the 100-400)? Does that suggeset it will not be in the same league as an art lens ?Well, yes (see the 150-600 C vs. 150-600 S, even though the C lens is still reportedly very good.
I am more surprised not by the C designation but by the aperture - which, in all fairness, would probably allow it to be more compact. However, these two factors combined lead me to the thought that there may be an S version to follow which would likely directly compete with the Canon 100-400 II and the Nikon 80-400 G.
As for the other... the 24-70 doesn't really interest me; the 135/1.8 would be cool - remember that in the late 70s and early 80s there was a thriving market for 135/1.8 constructions with Sigma providing some of them - but I feel that a 135/2 OS might've been a better idea.
The 14/1.8... woohoo. I can only imagine how large it might be - at least as big as the 20/1.4 and with more curved front glass. Maybe my 14/2.8 is in danger now (even though I'd like to see an even shorter FL lens instead like a 12/3.5 or 12/4). But if they can pull it off... one more notch for unparalleled technical achievement to them!
