But which typical Zeiss or Nikon gear buff understands technique to talk about such things? <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

What type of person would typically know about diffraction limited apertures?
I do believe that knowledge of diffraction limited aperture is helpful to obtaining the sharpest image possible with a given camera/lens combo, especially when shooting macro. I had read about the Circle of Confusion and related topics years ago, but I had not thought about it in a long, long time. Thanks for bringing the subject back up for me. Does this mean that I am no longer a typical Canon, Nikon, Fujifilm buff (since I own cameras from each of these manufacturers)? Oh....my first camera system was a Pentax Screwmount (Spotmatic II) and I loved it. So I should add Pentax to my buffiness. Just call me Buff Daddy.
