I get all your points. And of course I see the improvements, Sony was the first to show what a modern 85mm lens can do, years ago, Sigma and Canon followed with their f/1.4 lenses (Nikon so far unfortunately didn't).
Still: this is a heavy brick. It's not an APO. And it is darn expensive. I find it surprising that so far no one has complained especially about the latter.
This new RF lens costs what I paid for my 200/2 VRÂ (new, admittedly a few years ago). And more than I paid for a (used, but like new) 300/2.8 VR.
The prices for these prime marvels are insane.
