If I was in the market of buying a FF camera, I'd have a hard time to even consider CaNikon given the wealth of lenses available for Sony.
Unlike CaNikon it was really smart by Sony to open their protocols. It may cost them some short terms sales but it's buying them long term market dominance.
Given the quality of lenses such as the FE 24mm f/1.4 and FE 20mm f/1.8, even the mount diameter argument is downright silly by now.
Now what they still need to do - improving the ergonomics of their cameras. It's a classic case of form over function here. Bauhaus design works for buildings but not for cameras.
Kudos to Nikon at least in this respect.
