...in the end I have to go with the Fuji 14mm f/2.8 for the same reasons I was thinking all along...
...in the case of the 16mm f/1.4, the 14mm f/2.8 was much smaller, much cheaper, wider, and just as sharp if not sharper...
...in the case of the Zeiss 12mm/2.8 , the Fuji 14mm f/2.8 is most all of the above, except it is probably "wide enough"...
...finding a used one in E+ condition for $599 @ Adorama helped rationalize this decision...
...the 10-24 f/4 was a wild distraction...LoL...if I ever actually do a video documentary I will probably regret this decision...

...I do covet the 10-24 but cherish the aspects of the 14mm f/2.8 that attracted me to it in the first place, namely it's size and sharpness...
