The Sony you refer to is the same design as the Canon EF 50mm f1.8 (all 3 versions). Just with a built in SLR to mirrorless adapter. This new Canon sure does not look like that... It would be quite a bit longer.

The Sony does have one aspherical element while the Canons have none. Mind you, not that it seems to salvage the lens all of a sudden, as the review by Klaus had shown...
