You can always use a Canon adapter with EF-mount glass ....
Basically, what has been done up to now by the 3rd party manufacturers who did supply an RF-mount lens is effectivly an EF-interface anyway.
Until they figure out how to properly deal with an RF-interface, they could indeed just as well provide an EF-mount lens.
As to expensive: it is relative. It is a lot of money, expensive is an opinion . Owning both an RF 85L and an RF 50L all I can say is that they are worth it in my book.
