I see the Thom Hogan oracle is now predicting a mirrorless announcement at CES in January
Interestingly, he's also backing a new horse for the August 24th announcement, ie D4 and the D700 replacement.

Hmmm... then I would speculate that the guys in Nikon heard our screams concerning this new mirrorless and wanted to change the approach <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' />....
OTOH, a very interesting rumour (at least for me), that two new FX bodies will be placed in the market (D800 and D4 at the same time). It would be very nice not to kill the D700 path and place an affordable FX body (again). But I guess this time the difference should be more than we have today between D3 and D700.
