<p style="font-size:12px;font-family:Helvetica;">today i've just returned from being away, and looking at the quick pix from the trip i thought it might be worth a closer look at the macro part of this lens -

<p style="font-size:12px;font-family:Helvetica;">the macro section of the lens appears to operate from 73mm-80mm and on a closer look at the focus shift feature here, it seems that at the 80mm length there is no (or minimal) focus shift between f4 and f8, but to find the correct focus point here on my camera the micro-focus must be set at -6, whereas the micro-focus setting for the zoom part of this lens, where there is no focus shift, is 0 at 70mm -

<p style="font-size:12px;font-family:Helvetica;">finally….the f/4 to f/8 RSA focus shift that appears in the Pz review of this lens does exhibit at the 73mm end of the macro and reduces as the lens moves toward 80mm - maybe remaining almost constant from about 77mm to 80mm on my camera - unfortunately it will be difficult to put in simple micro-focus corrections to fix focus shift in macro from 73mm to 77mm - overall this lens probably requires m-f comp from +6 to -12 or so, or, an impossible ask from a sad lens

i was very disappointed to have been offered two of these lenses that were much the same and indeed to be still receiving cash back and special deals from those involved - maybe i'm out of touch now
