A Question: Will a micro lens perform well when focusing at an object far away?
#11
I did have an old sigma 180/5.6 macro. Perhaps it was a bad copy but used as at conventional distances and f/5.6 the results were terrible. I went no further but resold it as fast as I could.

I will not knock sigma macros in general. In terms of conventional distances, I had a brilliantly performing 150/2.8 on my canon 7D (just as long as micro adjust was set to maximum). I now use a FF sony with a sigma 70/2.8 macro (which is impossible to criticize bar the screw on hood) and I am in total love with my 400/5.6 sigma tele macro (pin sharp at f/8 but horrible at f/5.6. No better than good bokeh. 1:3 macro which is a lot more decent than it sounds).
