It's a fine destinction to seperate the sensor from its microlenses. It is not as if the customer has a choice or that dropping microlens size down to 2um is going to be side effect free. 2um is periously close to the wavelength of visible light. You can expect an uneven response for off angle light and it will be very colour dependent.
It doesn't help that the nex design has a very short register length. This encorages the design of lenses that deliver light to the sensor at a wider range of angles - and this will be especialy true of ultra wide lenses.
The only good news is it might be predictable and therefor at least potentialy correctable.
For myself, I am hoping that sony puts this very much improved sensor technology into a tradition full frame SLR to replace the a900.
