Well, I still wouldn't call them great, but certainly a lot better. However, that's probably because the E-PL1's lowest sharpening setting is already applying more sharpening than the latest Panasonic cameras.
When you look at reviews of EF- or F-mount lenses which contain RAW-converted samples with zero sharpening applied, you cannot really call those images "great" IMO. Their AF-S 35/1.4 review is probably a good starting point.
