Yes.

Yes, of course. Note that the charts are in Line widths per Picture Height, the latter being in pixels. So, with more pixels available, the results are expected to be higher (numerically).

It's linked here, maybe you need to refresh your cache.

Hi Markus,

Thanks for the reply. I think the data you measured and shared is quite interesting here. I was keen to learn, what the effect of a poor lens and what the effect of the better sensor is. For many points, it just behaves as expected. Where the lens is poor, e.g. extreme boarder 18mm f/3.5 the higher resolution sensor only leads to a marginal boost of 100 lines per image height while where the lens was great, e.g. centre at 18mm f/3.5 we see a boost of about 600 lines per image height. This is essentially what I expected, if the lens is limiting, the better sensor doesn't help. Thought there are a few very interesting (unexpected) results:
  • 18mm, f/5.6 boarder and extreme boarder are roughly the same on the D200, on the D7000 the boarder is clearly ahead.
  • 35mm, f/11 On the D200 the values are almost the same for centre and boarder while the extreme boarder is trailing a bit. On the D7000 the centre is now clearly ahead, while boarder and extreme boarder are now almost the same.
These type of thing was what made me ask, whether it was actually the same lens. You have any idea what is going on here?

Thanks for reading

Joachim

PS: A refresh helped the link, so that is sorted.
enjoy
