Yes it seems quite odd also to me. but the problem is now solved, I found it!
The reason is that in 1Ds Mk2 body there is (still) an extra swich under the lens mount in the position of 10
o´clock in the same way as in older film eos bodies. The switch allows the body to reckon if the lens is ef-compatible lens. This extra switch must be locked up mechanically in order to be able to use all af-concormed adapters and Contax/Leica lenses. After taking off the handmade "lock" camera worked normally.
