I don't think a lens is a "being", but rather a "thing"?
A being is fine even for a lens ...... it exists physically and is actual .... therefore "it is" ..... conjugation of the verb "to be"
Being is the "present participle" of the verb!
The verb "to be" can also be considered to mean ......... an acknowledgement of physical existence ..... (as opposed to conceptual)
This quote from an old Pentax 50-200mm PZ review:
"Normally you would expect a tele lens to be fairly big and massive but the Pentax lens is a tiny being and not much bigger than the standard kit zoom."
