Apart from the sharpness etc. the other huge improvement is focus speed and accuracy ....

The old Sony took 277 shots with 127 in focus
The new Sony took 317 shots with 263 shots in focus ....... (all in the same time period)
This lens is clearly designed for the Sony A1 sports camera and super fast sports focusing ....... just the IBIS losing out a little ......
