I was referring to studio sound/record engineering, which requires a flat response curve in the delivery mode so that an expert can craft a piece of work to their liking... much like how an expert photographer might want to have complete control of the captured scene.

I find the “reproduction work” boring. It requires one single camera and single lens for the whole life.

1. 35mm camera – 6…8MP with at least 15 stops dynamic range

2. One single 50mm lens at aperture A= 11…13

3. Picture must be represented at media with 13…15 stops dynamic range



I like to buy new toys from time to time.

I'm a bit lost here, as to what is supposed to be the topic please? D7000 performance or DSLR's handling of RAWs?

Don't we all tweak and postprocess most of our RAWs ? I mean, not just to get a reference brickwall shot <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> but rather to get a picture that suits our feelings of what is nice and right for a given image.. Doesn't have to be 100% perfect in terms of colours fidelity or noise (which I wouldn't be able to measure anyways), is has to nail the mood we're trying to convey - in that respect I don't think any modern DSLR is a letdown. Not more than the eventual lack of proper photography skills/technique .. as far as I'm concerned <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />



Anyways back to the D7000 - I only had limited experience so far in dull weather, but so far I can tell that I like both the output and the ergonomics - when comparing with D90 and D300 (which I had for some time in the past). I find the images quite clean up to ISO 3200 (very usable with postprocessing) - which I think is quite an achievement.. The white balance seems improved as well. I will definitely need to give the D7000 a more thourough run, but so far, so good <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />



BTW - I don't think near field sound monitors used by recording engineers are the best to convey music, or there woudn't be so many high end companies, selling the so many so different speakers out there.. none of those come close to the real live experience anyways <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> it's always a kind of a compromise I guess just as it is with our eyes notion and what we see later in the photo <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Very true. Interesting to note though that some hardened fanboys beat the non-issue of illegitimate RAW "tweaking" by Nikon to death. Even when viewing the dpreview test shots at 100% (the pixel peepers perspective) up to say ISO 1600 the differences between a 7D RAW and a D7000 NEF are negligible. So we have two great cams achieving great and virtually identical results, but only one does it the honest way whereas the other one does it by cheating. That´s a pretty weird concept to put it mildly.
