Wow, what a shit lens indeed! I didn´t expect miracles of course but this is real shit seeing its performance... Why does Nikon offers such rubbish yet..? It is just spoiling the brand reputation.

And if you remove the glass and seal it a little you could even drink coffee out of it. So let's make it 1.25pts. ;-)

<img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> You forgot that you could use the glass for setting things on fire using sunlight....fun fun fun! That should add a little bit to the rating. <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' />

Hmmm... 1 1/2 sun-glass-stars + 1.25 drinking-cup pts = 2.75 drinking-cup star-points.

This lens might be the link between the Staff of Ra and the The Holy Grail ?

I hope for that too. Really want to see how good/bad it is in comparison with the 16-35mm.

Well, the scale goes from 1 star to 5 stars ... and this lens

has made it to one star. So, what does this really mean?

To me, I really prefer to have a one-star-lens, than no lens at all.

Long ago, in a travelling/backpacking holiday, I have been on a

street market / flea market, and saw a cheapo kit-zoom for my camera.

I would usually have never thought of buying such a lens, but as I

passed by, the thought "I have only one lens with me" popped into

my mind. Well, it was cheap, I bought it. Two days later, I dropped

my camera, and my lens was history. Now, you can imagine,

that this cheapo kit-zoom came really handy. I took a lot of images

with it ... some are visibly suffering from the quality (or the lack of it)

of the lens, others are quite good. Nevertheless, I would have come

home without images at all, without this lens (which was likely a

one-star lens as well). So, was this lens worth more than one star

to me? ... in that situation ... definately.

Just a sat'dy-morning thought ... Rainer
