Thinking about it, are there any DT G lenses? I know there is a DT Zeiss, but I can't think of a DT G. Maybe they're doing a Canon like the lack of EF-S L.

Well, unlike the existing Gs this one is weather-sealed and it shares the SSM drive.
However, based on the few images that I've seen it seems to have rather soft corners at 16mm (on the A77). Possibly a reason for the non-G designation. Makes you wonder what to mount to a 24mp APS-C cameras somehow.

I'd guess decent primes would be able to feed it without too much trouble. I'm also thinking I should change my sig to "not every pixel needs to look perfect all the time".

Corner sharpness on FF 24-70/2.8s from all brands also have weak corners in the wide part.
Canon/Nikon 17-55/2.8s have better corners but cost much more than the Sony.

The N17-55 is not all that great either. However, it's rather disappointing to deliver such a (great) camera but no lenses to match. It's a bit of a old Sony decease.
That said my Zeiss 16-80 will certainly enjoy its new home on the NEX 7 w/adapter.

The 50mm f/1.8 OSS is interesting if the optical quality would be there. Otherwise a fast lens with stabilization is probably very prone to decentering.

It's not a cheap lens so there's hope. Technically I agree. It would be the fasted IS lens ever, right ? The Nikkor 200/2 and Canon 200/2 qualify for the title so far.

I have yet to see a bad 50mm. But it's a bit short for portraits. 55mm or 60mm would be perfect.
