If they could keep the price raise over the old version to 150% or less, I would be tempted. If they do release that, please review it as soon as you can get your hands on one.

Well, the 120-300/2.8 OS is "rather cheap" for what it offers.

150% should be doable. I'd expect less than that.

Yes. However, got the review sample back from Sigma Service just yesterday, but will have to send it in once more (for the 4th time!) tomorrow.

Markus. It has been a little over 5 weeks now. Have you gotten the Sigma 70-200 OS back from service?

Sorry, no. Actually, I haven't sent it in, yet.

The last response from Sigma was to contact the dealer which sold the lens. That's of course nonsense (and a sign they either don't see the error or just want to get rid of an annoying customer).

I've been too busy with other lenses recently to care about this one, honestly.

Actually you've the right to return it after the e unsuccessful repair attempts.

That is if you purchased it is Germany ...

"Laut BGB gilt "Eine Nachbesserung gilt nach dem erfolglosen zweiten Versuch als fehlgeschlagen". Daher hat der Verkäufer nach den §§ 323 und 326 das Recht auf Rücktritt."

Unfortunately it was not purchased in Germany. And it was not purchased by a private person, but a business. So that one doesn't apply, unfotunately.

However, I will not rest until Sigma keeps their warranty promise <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />

Sorry, no. Sigma fails to see the defect and wants images that illustrate the issue (or to put it differently: they want me to do their work). Since I have lots of other work and reviews to do, I simply haven't found the time (and motivation) to set up a proper test (and find a really suitable subject that illustrates the issue so clearly that it is impossible to still claim the lens is within specs).

IOW: the lens has tumbled down considerably on our To-Do list.

Guys, these Sigma lenses have been tested and commented up and down by virtually every photo magazine and test site there is on the net. For those of you who read French I can recommend "les numeriques", les "pixelistes", "Nikon Passion", "le monde de la photo", "Chasseur d'Images" , etc., etc.! The results are mostly the same all over; as for the 24-70 F2.8 there is a consensus that the Nikon issue maybe is somewhat better, but not hugely, whereas the 70-200 versions are virtually undistinguishable between Sigma and Nikon, apart from the price. Below are a couple of examples. Then give Klaus and Markus a break for a while <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Good reading

Thanks for the links, however I don't speak French so those links are just a bunch of shots of bricks to me. Those reviews are not up to the standards we see here on PZ.

It's a bummer Sigma service in the EU is like that. I have heard nothing but good feedback about Sigma USA service.
