Seems as if the new Sony lens is also showing the violet color shift towards the corners:

(e.g. in first sample image)

The 24mp sensor is really a sucker.

Every lens ever made has faults of one kind or another. In the scheme of things a little purple haze at 10mm is not of that great an importance, how well it performs taking real world photos is. The purple haze need not be that much of a problem with any decent PP. In fact Sony could easily adjust both the JPG and RAW output in camera just as they do with the RX100 and Hasselblad does with its 28mm lens and so on.

And with a 24MP image to play with, any slight loss in sharpness or a bit of extra grain is not as important. Printing of the image will also smooth out any small quirks left after PP action has been taken.

AS measurements have shown, it is not a "slight" loss in sharpness. The resolution figures drop way below that of the 5(N). What use is it to get a 24mp sensor over the 16mp sensor, is not the extra resolution?

Time for a 7N with corrected sensor.

Klaus, what do you think about using a 5n instead of a nex-7 for lens testing?

Well, I would use a NEX 6.

There is a point here but I can't test on all platforms. I cannot split myself.

I will buy the NEX 6 in any case, BTW. So I will at least be able to provide some feedback.
