I'm baffled ... I thought it is April 1st but in a weird way it makes sense.

If the rectangular base is detachable, it's a gift for stereo-photography fans like myself. The best ever. E.g. I vote for "genius".

Interesting idea. This could probably work out well, since many already carry a smartphone, so why not use it for that?

I think they will sell for 6 months or so then be forgotten.

I really appreciate the novel idea but when I saw the picture of that guy holding it on its phone, looks really odd. Interestingly, the pictures seem to show some adjustable clip for various xperia models.

Worth a look but to me, the greatest issue will be the "deployment" time, which is exactly why phone photography is becoming so popular. Nokia, HTC and even iPhones do produce good enough pictures nowadays with very little (at least iphone) lag time.

Just follow for a week Koci Hernandez on its instagram or flickr and you'll see what I mean.

Greetings,

S.

I'm cautiously optimistic for this. It depends on what its real world limitations and operations are. If it works with any phone then great. It is niche, but I think if it could be remotely operated (not required to be fixed to phone) then it will open up many possibilities.

pity it has an rectangular thingy on the front of it….probably means it has a rectangular sensor too….too bad, i've always wanted to take round pictures….you could have a round screen on the back of it, then you wouldn't need anything else at all….then the g on the lens could be for good….well, you'd never have to worry about what was straight….horizon wise….

Turns out its genius Smile

Highest pre-booking in history of Sony.

Looks like this market is huge, all smart phone users basically.

Haven't found it on pre-order yet (not really looked hard either) but the QX10 is very tempting to me...

We'll test the QX100 here in the zone.
