Forums > Back > Waterfall detail and Fractalius Plug-In
#1
Hi everyone,

here's an image of the zig zag-shaped way the water takes on its way down.

I modified the image in Photoshop with the help of a Plug-In called Fractalius. Applying the plug-in and playing with the controls puts the creative process beyond just taking the picture. Any opinions or comments will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Michael

Technical stuff: 1DsMkII, EF 28-300L, Manual mode, 0,8sec, f/16, iso100, 300mm

not sure about this michael although the blood one might look good on the wall i think - it is so far away from real it becomes an abstract for me which is nice -

and other shots on your site are lovely, thank you

The do not really work for me either... It is a bit of a strange plug-in, that one. Can not call it very creative, unless you make a photo with its use in mind, it is more a "please, plug in, make what is not interesting interesting" plug in.

I do think your original photo is quite pretty, a bit of contrast enhancement will suit it I think.

that was my impression as well. I like the abstract version as well better

That's an unwanted impression. I am just playing with the possibilities to find out what works--so I don't want to generalize about pluses and minuses of the software

Well, I agree to a certain degree. There are images that do not work at all with this plugin, while others look great. I played with a few images and put them in a temporary "creative" gallery (http://www.meview.de/all/allportfolio5.htm)-- later I will reduce that gallery to images that work when they are Photoshopped (either with the Fractalius Plug-In or with other PS techniques).

Thanks for looking.

The modified versions doesn't work for me.

This is the only one negative think that I can say.

The original is just stunning!!!

Perfect composition good use of S shaped water flow. The light is little bit at the harsh side.

I wish one day I can make such picture as you.

Nice site too. Congrats with your son.

Greetings,

Miro

Thanks, miro. I'm sure that you already can take such pictures as well. Keep on using your eyes to see and play with compositions. Take your time with taking pictures (e.g. use a tripod from time to time--that slows you down and lets you think). Enjoy and have fun <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Sad' />

Well although I like to "play" and to experiment with plugins and addons.. in this case I would rather stick with the original. Or At least try another plug in.... <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />

Some of the abstract stuff is real fun, better than some of the expensive abstract art... :-) The green stuff (grass?) looks really nice.

The dog is funny. it looks real but at the some time unreal too. It's just a fun gadget, I guess, like a fish-eye, over the top HDR, or IR can be.
