First quick test this morning, lazily out of my window, at infinity. At first glance, the lens looks ok, it's just hard for me to manual focus. Perhaps the focusing ring is too stiff and it's to be said that the focusing target is a skyscraper 800m away, so it's rather small at 12mm. Below the shot at ƒ/5.6, cropped, standard sharpening applied.

 

In the afternoon I'll try to go to a place with something larger and closer to focus on and possibly run a test against the SEL1018.

 

In any case, I'm glad that it's less likely I have to return it.  Smile

I agree with trashing the whole hyperfocal nonsense. Focus on infinity/horizon, or the main subject instead.
