Their 150 f/2.8 macro OS HSM is even better for me.... <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Impressive indeed. Took a while to build a new Foveon sensor, but the result looks promising.

I just wish they'd switch to a different mount <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Well, let's be realistic. As good as this camera looks on paper, some important specs are still missing. This is more of a development than a product announcement.

The SD15, in stock since June 2010, was "announced" 2 years ago at photokina 2008.

Yeah, but it's really surprising to see a camera which is at least on par with K-7, I didn't expect that. It might be the first camera from Sigma that makes a significant impact to the DSLR market :-)

Very interesting, and one I actually look forward to pixel peeping on! I still dream of the day when bayer patterns are gone.

But... from memory the old cameras weren't much good at higher ISO, and the handling of the camera wasn't exactly praised. I wonder if they have more improvements since then.

Maybe they should just start licensing these chips <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Big Grin' />.

Unless I missed something, it doesn't shoot video. It seems a bit odd, considering it's more or less standard these days. I wonder what the target audience is?

I'm curious to know what the sensor can deliver, but I'd want some features that the Sigma doesn't offer. Maybe they really should license the sensors, because I get the impression it is hampered by their package.

My guess is that the Foveon technology cannot deliver data fast enough, possibly due to heat issues.

I am amused at how quickly the world has changed from "who wants video in a still camera" to "who would buy a still camera without video". This camera is for those who want a lot of detail - this is in my opinion roughly equivalent to a 30MP Bayer camera. Who else gives you that in an APS-C size body? If it delivers speed and good handling, it would be a wonderful thing for wildlife photographers looking for light gear.
