Hi,

I was wondering: Could you one of these days share a few points about your lens test set-up?

Specifically, how do you go about aligning the camera perpendicularly toward the test targets?

Of course I have.

However, it just stresses how essential it is to have a perpendicular set-up without going into much detail about how to achieve one ;-)

I couldn't believe the step with "a couple of sample shots at f/11" was all there was to be said about it. I figured they might be use some sort of custom-made rail or something. Or, I don't know, distance measurement. For instance, although this might not be a helpful comparison, if you try to achieve a precise angle on a lathe, what you use is a dial indicator.

Actually the setup doesn't need to be 100% accurate. But the exact details of the test procedure aren't open source.

We prefer to keep a little magic  B)
