Well, the french site has surely listed its personal street price.

As usual the street price will be 20% below the MSRP in no time (in Europe at least).

French MSRPs are:

- K-5 body only: €1,249

- K-5 + 18-55 WR: €1,299

- K-5 + 18-135 DC WR: €1,699.

So the pricing is actually very competitive for what it offers.

Pentax K-5 + 18-55mm WR + 50-200mm WR:
11.895,- NOK (1 502.71 Euros)
The pricing for the 18-135 is a bit surprising.

If you buy it separately it'll shrink your bank account by 700EUR (MSRP inc. 19% tax)

Same here in France: €699 stand-alone, €450 if bought with K-5 as kit zoom (€1,699 - €1,249).

Time to start looking for a K7 to buy [which still has a good sensor, by the way].

Yep, blame me, but I´m on "zee cheap", but this technology pace sort of cracked me down, and they have hampered their own race in that regard.

It starts to be like buying a computer:

the best buy is the best just obsolete technology, not the latest one.

Looks to me like the body alone price is too high. Only reason why they can sell the kit with the lens at 450€. Look for the body price to come down 200€ at least! <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> K5 is not worth 100€ more than a D300s.

This is a screen capture from the price list of one of the most reputable Finnish photography webstores. Not so bad? K-5 body only 1149€ incl. VAT.

1. "best out" cannot be judged by anybody except by the individual who uses the camera based on his own needs.

2. K-5 cannot take canon lenses, so it doesnt "best out" the 7D of somebody owning a large Canon system

3. any differnces in image quality may or may not exist, but will certainly not matter for real photography, e.g. prints. IF you need a camera solely for 100% on-screen crop- viewing, iq difference may be important. So far I wasnt able to dectect any iq difference in large prints of the more recent aps-c cams (50D, 7D, 550d, 500D, with Nikons D300s being extremly close even with it low res of only 12 mP, full frame is a differnt matter, of course)

4. user interface, lens selection, autofocus and other features determine if the camera suits a buyer. there is no objektive better or worse, just better suited for a particular task and better suited for a photographers handling prefernces.
