Hi folks,

I love my Nikkor 70-300 VR.

This is a very affordable lens due its quality.

Until 200mm, its a monster. Very good IQ.

Impressive image at 70mm.

VR is very good.

I found a very good use to photograph birds, animals and guess... portrait shots.

Check some nice shots i have with this at my webpage:

It is affordable "due to its quality"? I think you may mean something else <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' />.

You basically like any 70-300mm, not the Nikon in specific. The Canon 70-300 IS is optically better at the long end, you would love that lens too. The Sony 70-300mm on a Sony SSS body you would love too... as it is even better. And the new Tamron 70-300mm f4.5-5.6 VC USD you would love too, as it appears to even beat the Sony at 300mm. And then you would also love the 70-300mm L IS USM from Canon... because it has super optics (like the Tamron) with super build quality.

Basically, the "new" generation of 70-300mm lenses, which started with the Canon EF 70-300mm f4-5.6 IS USM (is we do not count the Zeiss 70-300 zoom lens for Contax) has improved the breed quite a bit.

I am glad you are happy with your lens.

Thank you for your words.

I am from Brazil, english is not my primary langague.

What I was trying to say is that this lens is cheap if you take into consideration the quality of the image. It have a decent build quality and a very effective VR and cost like 500U$. At 300mm its not good as 200mm or 70mm. At 70mm its a monster.

I dont know anything about those other lens that you told me about. But I am pretty sure you are a reliable source.

. . . of course . . ."buyer beware" . . .

so, read the reviews, like what you hear (or not, if you want that lens badly enough) and then check for yourself on your own gear -

otherwise be prepared to do your dough if you buy otherwise - as i have done somewhat (well, prior to coming here and making a nuisance of myself). . . but not now

take care

I buy Brightcolours statement. I own the new Tamron 70-300 VC lens and I love it too! <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' /> It beats the Nikon hands down at all focal lengths, especially at 300mm . Welcomme to the Forum Hackman <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> Kindly Vieux Loup
