Well, he singled out Tokina among the other third party manufacturers for some reason. Smile At the same time he was/is on a crusade against Tamron and Sigma (he warmed to Tamron later for some reason though, but kept his stupid name-calling campaign against Sigma, again for no apparent reason).

Mostly of course his site is comedic reading. Smile

Tokina made lenses with metal parts or something and he liked it. Sigma reverse engineers the mounts and so he claims there is a high risk of future incompatibilities. But Ken Rockwell is a bit tongue in cheek so... Whatever.

Well, even more comical than Ken's thoughts are lens reviews on Youtube. But then these are desperate times for publishers and the viewers don't seem to mind nonsense.

I'm not sure if that's the case now. Tokina might have given up rebadging/using Pentax designs, their last 85mm being a Viltrox.
