Awesome photos, as someone following your photos for years I can easily say that's one of your best, you were absolutely inspired.
Usually on my first visit to a place I take snapshots, I look at them,  then think of a way of taking most potential of the place. On the next visit I take way better photos.
Also you seem to be lucky to have a rare type of girlfriend, that is helpful and lets you take your time enjoying photography and shooting from the viewpoints you want. Once my wife said " you don't need all those lenses. You can shoot with just one lens, I need space in your backpack for the diapers"
One photo caught my attention 


The colors and contrast should have been a stress test for the camera/lens, but the end result is surely perfect, but I am afraid that printer/paper  will have some struggle here, unless you back-lit the photo or simply used digital media to view it. I absolutely liked it, and I am wondering if the paper is an outdated media . Almost nobody uses it anymore

Japan is a truly inspiring country making it easy to produce decent pictures... if the weather is right.
That being said, it also has its obstacles - lots of tourists (even now) and getting power lines out of your landscape images is a matter of luck.

I wish I had more time for the interesting, tiny details, but, well, I was just a tourist.

Hi Klaus, I see you had a great time in Japan! It makes me put it on my bucket list.
What is so special about the building claded with rusted sheetmetal? It sticks out compated to the rest of the architecture.

The building is a part of an art installation on "Naoshima" island.

There are several modern art museums on the island, actually.

Well, you travelled far and wide across Japan it looks like.
Both of my journeys there were pretty much limited to Tokyo and the surroundings. Not that there isn't enough to fill your days and weeks with even if confined to that area, mind you. The country is fascinating anyway. I hope to go there once more in the future but not sure when that might happen (and I have some other destinations I really need to cover, of course).
