Maybe, but I don't really expect it. Judging from the images, I think I can see some metal, but it's hard to be sure from the angle in the procut shot.
The 35/1.8 has a metal mount, so I wouldn't expect the AF-S 50/1.8 to have lower specs. Actually, it features at least one thing the AF-S DX 35 does not have: a focus distance window.

I do not have much expectation about this lens since Nikon has both 50mm 1.4D and 1.4G with affordable prices. Indeed I hope that Nikon can produce a 35mm 1.8G or a 2.0G for FX.

Well, relatively cheap and for the money jolly good is the 50 mm 1.8D, although some say that the "Made in Japan" pre-D versions were even better. Anyhow, it´s simply a logical step that Nikon is now going to a provide an AF-S 50 mm 1.8G in particular for those who own an entry level Nikon DSLR without internal focus drive motor.
