Certain lenses have gained nicknames in user communities. The ones I know are names of affection, but maybe there are ones with a negative meaning too.

Here are 4 that I know of:

- Nifty fifty (Canon EF 50mm f1.8)

- Beercan (Minolta 70-210mm f4)

- Magic drainpipe (Canon EF 80-200mm f2.8 L)

- Cream machine (Nikon AF 85mm f1.4 D)

Which other names of affection have been given to certain lenses?

Bigma (Sigma 50-500)

Sigzilla (Sigma 200-500/2.8)

Sucker (Canon 100-400L)

Precious (Voigtlander APO-Lanthar 125/2.5).

Yogurt Cup (Cosina 100/3.5 macro)

As far as cream machine is concerned - I would oppose this. The Sony 135/2.8 STF is certainly better.

Internally I'd also list the following:

Hell (Canon 24-70L)

Nightmare (Zeiss 24-70)

Beelzebub (Nikkor 70-200/2.8 VR I)

Menace (Pentax 16-50/2.8)

No doubt ... however it's still the lens' nickname among Nikonians.

well, as for FatBoy, we use it more often on the Nikkor 200/f2 in our country.

Also, the Three Princesses (Pentax 43mm,77mm,31mm limited).
