The review posted today on DPR gives food for thought! Despite the undeniable attractiveness of the design and "reaonable" price level, it seems that firmware problems and start up bugs haunt this pretty camera! I think I would wait for bug removals and firmware updates to fix a lot of problems. How about you? There are really good compact expert cameras out there for half the price. They may not be as pretty and nostalgic looking, but they work really well! I have been waiting for this camera to get an "always in my pocket" camera. I think I'll go elsewhere!

Some cons can't be helped with a rewritten firmware, lie the "very soft" lens wide open and at close distances, and the need for very high speed SD cards (a small buffer problem).
And Fuji is very slow in development (only Sigma seems slower), so it might be years before the firmware is going to be mature...
I agree with you, a nice camera in concept, with a nice lens in concept too (35mm FF equivalent). But in actual use, I am afraid it would not make me very happy.
I'm waiting for the chance to get my own hands-on experience with the X100 in
a local camera store. But eventuelly, as soon as I got that, I'm sold.
I will likely get one if (and only if) the price goes down a bit (at around 1000e I find
it a bit bold).

There are rumours about an X300 with interchangable lenses and that might be much more interesting, especially if they fix the bugs. In the meantime, I still find the GF1 to be the most attractive alternative, with the pancake lens as an "always in your pocket" equipment or even an LX5. The big attraction of the X100 is of course the viewfinder where nobody else bit Leica has a good solution.
I am afraid I would not be happy. For one it's not made by canon.
