But how the two are linked? The 45/1.8 is almost twice the FL of the 25/1.4.

Upps, sorry. I was probably thinking of the large aperture lens that I'm currently testing. No, not the Samyang. ;-)

- i think we have to be a little bit careful about describing all halos as sharpening defects, maybe yes in this case or maybe not ...

- sensors have made giant strides in a very short time - you should have seen the high-contrast edge halo's that used to be not so long ago that weren't from sharpening effects - now we all make beautiful prints from current DSLR's but for some of us it is still not quality neg ... but there are of course other advantages that digital offers -

- and, this is an expensive lens? - yes maybe, but (urm, without distracting from this thread) maybe best not to inquire about the price of a superrotator then ...

so long for now ...

Which high contrast halos were there that did not come from sharpening?

YeeeePeeeeee! Large aperture is sexy.

I hope it's for Canon. I don't have enough things to dream about. <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

I think that price is not far from a Sony A850 (FF) + Minolta 24/2.8 + Minolta 50/1.4 + Tamron 90/2.8 Macro <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

This is a late reply, but anyway:

I still find the Sony system tempting to some degree. But after carrying a back-pack with Nikon D90 and three more-or-less heavy lenses for a whole day without rest, I don't really want to get anything that is heavier than my current kit. Which also makes me reconsider my full-frame upgrade path, which I thought I had already decided on.
