Well, Tokina lists 98000yen which is 20% less than for the 16-28mm.

So this should translate to about 650EUR street price.

It's allways the same with thrd-party lens makers, sugested prices are 30-50% higher than retail prices. Yes I know that 16-28 has sugested price of 118.000 yens in Japan but it sells for 88.000 at most.

Yes, but that was the base of my estimation :-)

16-28: 118.000yen

17-35: 98.000yen

Thus a 17% difference in MSRP.

Local street price:

16-28: 780EUR (that's what we know)

17-35: approx. 650EUR

It's quite surprising that the 17-35 is so "expensive". 650EUR is, of course, very fine for a full format UW zoom. But usually there's more than just a 17% price difference based on a max. aperture difference of 1 f-stop.

We shall see how much will new Tokina actually cost. I hope it would be in 500 euros region. Tokina 16-28 was 899 euros when it came to the european market.

What I missed about this new Tokina is 82mm filter thread, for prototype version it was 77mm.
