The kick assing will continue in the full format section ...

I'm rather familiar with the concept of ass kicking. But... what exactly is kick assing? <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Of course, kicking ass literally means kicking someones behind, as in beating them. Samyang continues to be better than the other brands optically <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> So they're figuratively kicking asses <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' />

Let's hope someone from Zeiss has been following this story, because it seems someone there has really screwed up.

They've been promising their own 35/1.4 since 2010, and so far nothing has appeared (at least as far as I know). Now it seems that Samyang has stolen a march on Zeiss and they will lose sales as a result. I have been waiting patiently for the Zeiss for months now, and this review has certainly given me some thought.

It might sound a bit absurd to some, but unless the new Zeiss performs drastically better than its recent 35/2.0 cousin, they can't really offer much more than the Samyang except an excellent metal casing, aperture coupling, and the prestige of the brand.

I am a devoted user of 'classic' lenses from Zeiss etc., but in this case I will not spend 1600 euros on a lens that might well perform worse than Samyang's 500 euro offering.

and offers electronic aperture control but costs about €1000 more without AF <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

This review is APS-C only - FF EOS will follow.

You may have a look at the Nikon FX review - it's very similar anyway (visually).

You misunderstood me. If you click "Lens Reviews -> Canon APS-C" a page will open featuring all the Canon APS-C reviews. There isn't Samyang 35mm one. Do you see what I'm talking about?

No :-) because I can see the link.

Probably a caching issue in your browser.
