#61
The strangest thing about the Pentax Q, is that it is an ultra compact, like a Canon S95, Nikon P300, Ricoh PX and such, all very pocketable. But... without being pocketable, with its standardzoom mounted (at least not the pockets the others fit in).

I now better understand Ricoh's take over of Pentax. The Q is a system to build and develop from. I don't think tele primes will be either useful or necessary, but the 2 good quality lenses and the fish eye are a good beginning. Pentax know how to get good IQ into small cameras; I have an Optio E85 and for anything up to A4 it is amazing. This might be a good "always in the pocket" alternative. I look forward to the tests <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Potentially, it is hopeful for Pentax. Hoya expected profits without a change in vision or a lot of investment. Ricoh needs Pentax to survive. Maybe they will expand on the DSLR part with FF finally too, and try new concepts (like the Q).

Lets hope for Pentax that this will turn out to be a good move. It didn't work out of Konica and Minolta, though...
