Preview: Leica Summicron 35mm f/2 ASPH
#1
Finally Wink

Sorry for the really long delay, it's been almost a year that we announced the Leica reviews as "coming soon". Some things did not work out as expected last year...

Anyway, here are some sample images taken with the M9:

Looks like a 35mm lens I would like to use.

Me too. Especially since it is really tiny (for a f/2 lens).

But would you spend 2500 EUR for it?

Most probably not.

Why buy it new? I recently bought a mint one for €1500. And a 50 Summicron for €1000, likewise in stellar condition.

You can of course save some money when purchasing used, still I consider 1500 EUR for a 35/2 and 1000 for a normal prime a lot of money.

Personally I went for the Zeiss 35/2.8 (688 EUR new) and haven't looked back. I haven't finally decided on a 50mm lens so far...

I recently got my Leica M6 serviced by Youxin Ye, and after receiving i decided to take it out for a test run with my Summicron 50mm F2 Dual Range.

I was all set to go until i noticed a problem...the lens does not focus all the way to infinity. It stops a lil bit after 10 meters..

I took a pic of it so everyone can see what I mean
