Honestly, I really liked the original Q. Although this may be hard to believe for some.
There are really few digicams with a 1/1.7" (Q7/S1) sensor or bigger these days so it provides a little more. And no digicam has an ultra-wide lens. The biggest problem is the lack of a long tele IMHO.
As such the Q system faces stiff competition from the Pana GM1 and Nikon V3.
I've been very curious to try one of the Q's out...and found the Q7 + 02 (5-15mm) lens is on sale currently in Canada for ~USD260. So I just ordered one.
It's not as cool looking as the original Q or Q-S1, but it does have the bigger sensor of the latter which makes all the lenses a little bit wider. The 02 is 24-70 equivalent on the Q7, which is perfect on the wide end for my tastes.
Wish the 01 "Standard Prime" was not so difficult to find. It was originally available only as kit with the original Q body; now it's only available used or through limited retail channels.
The teeny tiny 08 "Wide Zoom" (18-28mm equivalent) is really cool, but pricey at ~USD400.
Looking forward to flash sync at 1/2000s also.
Seems like the Q7 kit is available from hong kong merchants for about $250 AUD delivered. Seems to be a pretty good deal. If I didn't have the Sony RX100 M2 I would be tempted.
Hum. I just don't get it.
Well, in black the plastic looks fairly decent at least. The yellow one looks really cheap (shiny plastic).
Oh well ...
