Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8
#31
Too bad to stop this topic. JoJu has run hiding! BC has gone home!

If you want lightweight APS-C, how about EX-1 with 18-55: about 750g Smile

Well, if weight is your prime concern: Canon EOS 100D with 18-55 STM, only 610g Wink

Well, this one isn't valid - the lens is slower and both components are all plastic bombers.

The Fuji lens is much slower than that Sigma too. so either that is not valid either or speed is not an issue. As I said, if weight is your prime concern.

About plastic, what exactly is the problem? Pretty sure the 100D would take a beating just as well if not better...

I can see some appeal for this lens, e.g. astrophotography.

To me this lens is interesting because it breaks the f/2.8 zoom lens barrier.  Sigma, how about a 50-135/1.8

and how about a 16/1.4 while you're at it?  Please....

The current 50-150/2.8 OS is large enough, the size of the 70-200/2.8!

The lens is now officially priced at 800$/€!  I was seriously considering to ditch my plans of switching to FX or Fuji for one moment...

What did you expect ? I thought it was more.

I guess that's what felix intended to express: the low price made him reconsider his plans to switch to FX...

Markus is correct. I did not expect this lens to be significantly cheaper than the Tamron 24-70 (or even the Nikon/Canon MkI), due to the rather extreme design and unique market position.

I think Sigma has made this lens quite attractive now. You can get a D7100 & the 18-35mm for only ~300€ more than a D600 without lens.
