Why does Fuji use petal-shaped hoods on this lens and the 18-55mm? It looks to me that the square-shaped hoods are more beautiful.

Thanks for this review.

My lens is scheduled for delivery today. The barrel distortion and CA data is very impressive.

The weather is supposed to be good this weekend, so I hope I can get out and give the lens a work out.

Because it is a standard zoom that goes down to 18mm. The sides/corners of the hood show how "thin" a "square" hood would be. The petal shape gives more protection.

Wonder why the weight of this lens is a question mark?

My lens weighs 233 g. without the caps and hood. Mystery solved.

Is this an official Fuji figure ? Because I didn't find one.

I just plopped the lens on a our new digital scale in the kitchen. I will not claim accuracy better than +\- 3%.
