New Nikon AF-S 70-200mm f4 VR without the focus breathing

Well, whatever we or video people call it: the 70-200/4 VR does have focus breathing in my book. It changes the AOV considerably during focusing.



Now, the big surprise is, however: unlike on the 70-200/2.8 VR II (and the Sigma 70-200/2.8 OS) the AOV decreases when focusing closer.



I just did a few quick snapshots of the MTF chart to illustrate it:



Focused at infinity:

These are shot at 165mm, not 200mm, because I only had limited space available. But the effect isn't any different at 200mm.
